0340L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-10/15/22
Are you PREPARED? GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification app. Download it and you will be.
1- We are in a MARGINAL RISK for severe weather later today. There is a slight risk across the southern half of the state basically south of I-40. For our area, I’m not holding my breath for any rain but I really hope I’m wrong. If storms do occur, hail and strong winds will be the main threats. We’ll see where all this mess actually fires up.
2- The culprit that brings the rain chances is a cold front. Showers and thunderstorms are possible along the boundary but timing will be the main issue for us with some gulf moisture returning and where the front is when the moisture reaches the area. We’ll see what happens.
3- The Fire Danger will remain whether we receive rainfall or not so continue to use extreme caution if utilizing anything related to fire. We remain in an EXTREME drought. Also, keep an eye out for suspicious activity and call 911 in the event you see smoke, fire, or anyone starting fires.
4- OVERALL, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today- Sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the mid-80s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
Tonight- Showers and thunderstorms likely in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Some thunderstorms may be severe in the evening. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
