7:00 PM – WEATHER UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT – 3/6/2026
Good evening. I hope you’re all doing well.
Currently, there are no storms impacting Garfield County. However, severe storms are ongoing across northeastern Oklahoma. If you are planning to travel east this evening, please stay weather aware and consider postponing travel if possible.
A cold front is expected to move through the area later tonight, which may bring a few storms with it. While not everyone will see storms, a few could become strong to severe.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to our emergency management team for helping staff the Emergency Operations Center last night. It’s great to have such a great team of folks that will donate their time to protect the citizens of Garfield County.
Lastly, while Garfield County avoided significant impacts, our neighbors to the west were not as fortunate. Storms produced multiple tornadoes across Major, Alfalfa, and Grant Counties, and tragically two lives were lost near Fairview, Oklahoma. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities affected by these storms.
HERE IS YOUR FORECAST FROM THE NWS/NORMAN:
TONIGHT – Mostly clear. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening. Some thunderstorms may be severe. Much cooler with lows in the upper 30s. South winds 15 to 20 mph, becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of rain 20 percent.
TOMORROW – Mostly sunny. Cooler with highs in the upper 50s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Please continue to stay weather aware this evening, and we will provide additional updates if conditions change.
