0255L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 8/25/25
FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOW UNTIL 6PM THIS EVENING. This watch may be extended into the overnight hours depending on how storms track later today and tonight.
We are expecting quite a bit of rainfall today through Tuesday evening base on guidance. We are now under NW FLOW ALOFT meaning that most of our storms will be coming off the high plains of Colorado through western Kansas. This also affords us to experience the lower cooler temps this week so enjoy now as summer will return, hopefully without the 100 degree temps. We aren’t expecting any severe weather BUT if certain parameters are met, we’ll have some. What denotes severe? 1 inch hail and 58 mph winds.
No tornadic activity is expected.
Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Monday- Chance of thunderstorms. Showers. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the morning. Much cooler. Near steady temperature in the mid-60s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
Monday Night- Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification, warning, and preparedness app. If you don’t have it, you’re NOT prepared!
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
