0300L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 7/28/25

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 12 NOON UNTIL 8 PM THIS EVENING. EXTREME CAUTION IS ADVISED.

Today through Wednesday will be hot and muggy. Wednesday, the thermal ridge will move into the SW U.S. putting us under northerly to northwest flow aloft. This means we’ll be under the gun for thunderstorms coming off the High plains and the Central plains. High temps from Thursday through this weekend may be in the upper 80s to low 90s. We’ll see what happens.

I can’t stress to you all enough to make sure you stay hydrated during this heat. It doesn’t take much to bring dehydration on especially when you don’t pay attention to your intake of proper fluids. Pop and power drinks are the WRONG way to hydrate. Read up on this here. https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/

Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Today- Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 90s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Heat index values up to 105.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Lows in the mid-70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Heat index values up to 106 early in the evening.
