0315L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 12/18/25

WIND will be our nemesis as the fire danger increases. We have a cold front that will push through the area shifting winds out of the north with some gusts upwards of 35+mph. I will just say this, NO CONTROLLED BURNING as you won’t be able to control fire with the expected winds. We are in a near critical fire danger today. Tomorrow, winds will be southerly and very strong.

WEATHER-WISE- The coldest air should stay northeast of the state but this will be a dry front. With low humidity, strong winds, and very dry conditions the fire scenario could be a bit rough so keep your eyes peeled today and tomorrow and call 911 if you see any smoke or fire. See forecast below.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Thursday- Sunny, breezy with highs in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Thursday Night- Mostly clear. Colder with lows in the mid-20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
