0350L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 8/13/25
Today should be clear, for the most part, and hot. No heat advisories expected but with the heat and very light winds, be sure and hydrate properly. We will only be getting warmer between now and next week so prepare accordingly.
Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 70. Southeast wind around 6 mph.
As most of you know, I am retiring at the end of 2025. Between now and then, I will be working on information that the next emergency managers should know and promote. It’ll involve preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. You will also get this information because there is a large number of folks out there that state they are ready, so we’ll see if that’s true after you read the information. There is a brief write up that I did about 5 years ago on the gcem.org website. Here is a link to that- https://gcem.org/about-us/preparedness-comments/
These were Guidelines for Preparedness. It’s basic but to the point. Some may agree, some may not. Either way, at least you took the time to read them and hopefully can apply some of them.
GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification, warning, and preparedness app. If you don’t have it, you’re NOT prepared!
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
