0250L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 8/24/25

Today is transition day. We should be warm with highs in the 80s then the rain moves in later tonight. There is a chance that there could be some thunderstorm activity later this afternoon seeing that storms are ongoing in NW Kansas, these could actually affect us if they hold together and track more SSE than just SE. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens with these storms.

With the forecast rain totals for the area this week being 4 to 6 inches, I would ask that everyone prepare for this possibility. Storms may be a bit intense at times but if we see training storms, flooding will become an issue. Just remember, don’t drive through high water and slow down. One more thing, don’t drive around barricades either. They are there for your safety.

Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Sunday- Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the lower 60s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification, warning, and preparedness app. If you don’t have it, you’re NOT prepared!

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
