0415L-MONDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-9/2/19

STORM SIREN TESTS WILL BE CONDUCTED TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2019

1- Oppressive heat will continue as temps slowly climb back into the upper 90’s by later this week. There is no rain in the forecast until this weekend. STAY HYDRATED while working outdoors.

2- Yesterday I mentioned that preparedness begins with you. What would you do if there was no power for at least a week? One Lesson Learned from our 2002 Ice Storm was that when we have thunderstorms above a shallow layer of below freezing air, power is going to go away, sometimes for weeks. We did lose power for quite some time when that occurred and guess how we had to pay for things? CASH!! Could you do that today? You just might have to face this issue this winter so be prepared for this possibility. NO POWER=NO CREDIT CARDS.

3- Do you have some cash built up and put away at home? How much should you keep at home? Where is a good place to hide that money so the kids, possibly your spouse, and especially an intruder doesn’t find that EMERGENCY FUND?  I will provide these answers on Wednesday morning but understand that YOU may already have a secret place to hide it and in most cases, a better place than we could suggest. See? That’s a part of RESILIENCY.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Highs in the lower 90s. South winds around 10 mph.

Tonight- Lows in the upper 60s. South winds around 10 mph.

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND STAY COOL!!
