0355L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MGMT-5/2/2020

1- We are in a GENERAL RISK for thunderstorms later this evening and overnight. This means it’s a low chance. Storms are expected to develop in eastern Colorado and move across Kansas during the overnight hours. If they occur and can maintain themselves, there is a 15-25% chance for thunderstorms. There is a front in Kansas that will push in later tonight that could be a focus for thunderstorm activity if they can occur. We’ll see how this mess turns out.

2- Overall, hot, windy, and mostly dry today so get out and enjoy. Remember- if you see smoke or fire, CALL 911. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 90s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight-Partly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of thunderstorms 20 percent.

DIRECTORS COMMENTS

Now that many more folks are getting out of the house, remember that there are traffic rules like speed limits, using your turn signals before changing lanes, yielding to emergency vehicles, and most important, remember that those colors on the traffic lights actually mean something. I almost got hit twice yesterday because some folks were in a desperate hurry to get somewhere. All I am basically saying is slow down and use a little common sense when driving. We don’t want anyone getting hurt or killed because you were in a hurry. Whatever you’re after should be there when you arrive.

HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE AND DRIVE SAFELY!
