FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

We had a few fires yesterday afternoon that burned large areas in a short amount of time in which low humidity and strong winds were involved. Today will be no different but could be a little worse. PLEASE, NO CONTROLLED BURNS today and don’t throw cigarette butts out of the windows. All it takes is a spark and the rest is history. If you see smoke or a fire, call 911 immediately and let them know. They’ll get us dispatched quickly.

We are in a MODERATE DROUGHT area in the NW 2/3rds of the county and in a SEVERE DROUGHT in the SE 1/3RD of the county. Note my concern on this. Some areas where the terrain is extremely rough leave us no choice but to let the area burn and then we just protect homes and oil field locations. Some of these areas are very dangerous for us so just be careful and report any smoke or fire.

Weatherwise today will be windy and warm. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight-Clear, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light west.

HAVE A SUPER DAY!!
MIKE
