0335L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/8/21

1- THANK YOU ALL FOR THE PICS AND VIDEOS- YOUR REPORTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT SO KEEP POSTING THEM HERE. The NWS does monitor our page. As for those stating there was a tornado west of town, no tornadoes but there were a few funnels. If you were looking at radar closely, there were several outflow boundaries produced by pulsing storms. When these boundaries collide with each other, new updrafts can occur, thus the funnels. These type of funnels don’t last very long but do look scary. They were reported south of Carrier and around Lahoma.

2- We received another gully washer yesterday and depending on where you were around the county is how much rainfall was received. According to reports sent to me, the area received anywhere from a trace to 3.5 inches and this was in roughly an hour timeframe. This leads me to the next comment where some of you will most likely hate me.

3-When we receive torrential rainfall, some areas of town have known issues with flooding. Some drivers must think that their vehicles transform into speed boats when this happens. HYDROPLANING can get you or someone else severely injured or killed. SLOW DOWN under these conditions. Also, the underpass on Grand floods easily when this occurs yet folks just drive right on in! Maybe your vehicle need washing but now you may need an engine overhaul. Use better sense than none when we are experiencing these conditions. I saw it last week and unfortunately again yesterday. The bad thing is that it will continue because thinking with most folks is, IT WON’T HAPPEN to me!! YES, it will…

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 90s. Light and variable winds becoming southeast around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night-Clear. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds around 10 mph.

We can expect more storms, possibly severe this Saturday.

HAVE A SUPER DAY!

MIKE
