FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

I hope you haven’t lost your coats. We will need them Thursday into Friday as much colder air filters into the area. It isn’t going to be bitter cold but more seasonable air. Just remember where you put them. Overall, a good week with highs fluctuating a bit and lows at or just below freezing.

The Fire Danger is low since winds will be less BUT don’t forget the foliage is still dry and will burn either way, just not as fast. Call in any smoke or flames that you see ASAP. Several fire departments were on scene several miles Southeast of Covington yesterday afternoon into the evening on a fairly large fire. Thankfully the winds weren’t real bad. It burned roughly 60 acres. Continue to be careful out there.

Weatherwise, there will be a few troughs move through the area starting tonight which will bring temps down a bit then Thursday we’ll see much colder air as high temps will be in the 30’s. Again, a good week with mostly sunshine.

Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Tuesday-Sunny, with a high near 63. North northeast wind 7 to 10 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon.
 Tuesday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 32. North northeast wind 6 to 8 mph.

Have a great day!!
