0355L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-5/10/22

1- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the upper 90s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight-Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then mostly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the upper 60s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, diminishing to around 10 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 20 percent.

2- HOT & MUGGY with strong winds once again. This time with a low chance for rain mostly during the overnight hours. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

3- The Fire Danger will continue to be CRITICAL so be careful with anything that could cause a spark out there. Even though we are greening up more lately, foliage is very dry and yes, green will burn just with a lot more smoke. Extreme caution is advised.

4- Preparedness info for today- Many entities tell you what to have in an emergency kit. Any list is a good list but what is too much? That’s determined by each family. Get your hands on any of those lists, look it over, then determine what YOU and YOUR family really need. Some organizations tell you to have enough for 3 days, some 5 to 7 days. I feel 14 days would be best especially if infrastructure is down. These days, you never know what will happen. Make your determinations for you and your family and prepare just in case.
