0420L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-4/10/19
WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 A.M. TODAY UNTIL 10 P.M. TONIGHT
1- FIRE WEATHER is the main concern for today and tomorrow. SSW winds today and then NNW winds later this evening and tomorrow are the main issues. We are dry but greening up and with forecast winds to be very strong and low humidity, the FIRE DANGER will be critical. NO BURNING TODAY as it will become uncontrolled very quickly. With RED FLAG WARNINGS and additional watches and advisories out west, when traveling, use extreme caution.
Our Garfield County Strike Teams & Task Force are on STAND-BY in the event they are needed outside of our county. For those that worry about that, we’ll still have resources here for fire protection thanks to the 1/10 of a cent Rural Fire Sales Tax. CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY, if you see smoke or fire.
2- Other than the above, a normal day in Northern Oklahoma. We will have a cold front push in later this evening or sometime overnight so keep that in mind. I highly advise everyone to wear pants to work today and tomorrow.
3- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
TODAY- Sunny with a high near 84. Windy with south winds 15 to 25 mph gusting to 37 mph.
TONIGHT- Partly cloudy with a low around 44. Windy with south winds 20 to 30 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 41 mph.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
MIKE
