0320L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 6/28/24
*HEAT ADVISORY BACK INTO PLAY TODAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 9 PM THIS EVENING. Heat index values up to 109 expected. Use EXTREME CAUTION if working outdoors. The heat link is here https://www.weather.gov/safety/heat
*There will be a few showers early this morning and that will help make it totally miserable later today. We will have a cold front push into the area on Sunday dropping our high temps into the 80’s but the heat index will be in the mid-90’s. We’ll see what happens there as the weekend moves forward.
*For today, very hot and humid so just be careful while outdoors and stay hydrated.
*Keep your eyes peeled for the Firestarter in the southern part of the county. On this note, since winds will be very strong, we ask that no controlled burning occur for at least today. Thank you in advance.
*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today- Mostly sunny. Hot with highs around 106. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Tonight- Mostly clear in the evening, then partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the upper 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values up to 110 early in the evening.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
