0330L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 5/19/23

*GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification and Preparedness app. NWS advisories and warnings come through in detail automatically when issued. You’ll also get our advisories. Be ready and informed from GCEM and the NWS.

* We are in a General Risk area for severe weather and if storms occur, heavy rainfall along with hail and gusty winds would be our primary threats. A cold front is pushing towards our area and the likelihood of storms will increase as it moves in and through the area this morning. We’ll keep an eye out and advise if needed.

* App info: I have had several texts early this morning concerning SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENTS from the NWS. Some folks don’t want to be disturbed. This is a simple fix; go to settings, then notification settings, then NOAA alerts and you can turn them off and on without a password. Now you can sleep soundly but don’t forget to turn it back on for severe weather.

* Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

This morning & Today- Thunderstorms likely after midnight. Showers. A chance of thunderstorms. Locally heavy rainfall possible after midnight. Highs around 70. East winds 5 to 10 mph, increasing to northeast 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Tonight- Mostly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the upper 40s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
