MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 12/30/24

*A cold front is moving our way. This will cause winds to increase during the day starting this morning. Wind gusts are expected to be pretty strong mostly this morning. As drier air moves in along with stronger winds, we’ll be in an elevated fire danger from noon until roughly 5pm. We ask that anyone planning a controlled burn today to cancel it due to low humidity and strong winds. The colder air will follow later today into Tuesday.

Overall, we’ll be ok today. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Patchy fog this morning. Sunny, windy with highs in the mid-60s. Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph, becoming northwest 25 to 30 mph this afternoon.

Tonight- Mostly clear and breezy. Lows in the mid-30s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
