0240L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 12/31/24

*Winds will be gusty through late morning into the afternoon then letting up later in the day as the surface high settles in. We will be a little cooler today through the weekend but only around where our average temps would normally be for this time of the year. Another front will follow on Thursday but with no dramatic effects.

Another front will come through this weekend and models are all over the place so I’ll wait until they are in better agreement before committing to any statements. Just remember, it’s winter and it does and will get colder in time.

*Just fyi, I go by and make my decisions based on guidance from the NWS offices in Norman and Wichita. There are also several other entities within the NWS where I get info depending on our situations and forecasts. I am not going to raise panic because of what 1 model states like some folks on social media do. It takes several models to make the right determinations but even then, Mother Nature can do what she wants.

Overall, we’ll be ok today. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Cooler with highs in the upper 40s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Cold with lows in the mid-20s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

This will be my last post for 2024. See you all next year in 2025! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
