0315L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-01/02/23

1- We are in a GENERAL thunderstorm risk area for today. Severe weather is NOT forecast for our area but if you plan on traveling to the eastern and southeastern part of the state today or even into Arkansas, there is an enhanced risk for severe weather with all hazards possible. Use extreme caution and check your forecast before and while you travel.

2- We can expect cloudy skies with a chance for some drizzle and possibly fog this morning. A shower is not out of the question so we’ll deal with whatever happens.

3- We are still in an EXTREME DROUGHT and the FIRE DANGER does exist so be careful out there. If you see smoke and fire, call 911.

4- Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Monday- 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. East southeast wind 7 to 17 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind 13 to 17 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.
