0350L-MONDAY UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/5/18

1-Good morning and the shaking can stop at any time.  Within a 7 hour timeframe, we‘ve had 3 earthquakes. There has been a 4.2, another 4.2, and a 2.7. I know damage has occurred. When the sun comes up, take a few minutes to look around your homes looking for separated bricks, possibly fallen bricks, and new cracks on driveways, garages, and sidewalks. On the inside, look above the doors and windows to verify any cracking or binding of sheet rock (walls) and report this damage to your insurance companies and to me.  Email me at mike@gcem.org and include name number and address and a short brief on the damage. DAMAGE WILL NEED TO BE ASSESSED. I may have some state officials here to help with assessments ALONG WITH the Garfield County Assessor’s Office. If you have our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app, use the damage report on it to report damage too.

2-Don’t place blame on the causes because we don’t know yet. That may or may not be known for a while. Not all quakes are oilfield related so let’s wait until the big boys and girls make that decision.

3- EXTREME FIRE DANGER TODAY and the NWS HAS PLACED US IN A “RED FLAG WARNING” from 11am until 7pm today. We’ll be under this again possibly tomorrow. REPORT ANY SMOKE OR FIRE TO 911.

4- WEATHER-WISE- HERE IS YOUR FORECAST FROM THE NWS/NORMAN;

Monday-Sunny, with a high near 63. Windy, with a northwest wind 18 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.

Monday Night-Clear, with a low around 29. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph becoming west southwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

I will be in the Hunter/Breckenridge/Kremlin area this morning and if anyone in Enid or anywhere else sustained damage, contact me per the above guidance.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

MIKE
