0415L-SUNDAY UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/4/18

1- There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather in SOUTHEAST Oklahoma. We basically fall under the GENERAL risk. For our area, it appears per NWS guidance, that any better rain chances for us would be later tonight as the front/dryline pushes through but as stated yesterday; don’t hold your breath right now. There are many variables with this mess so we’ll see how guidance might change during the day. One thing going against us right now is a fairly strong capping inversion in the atmosphere. This usually suppresses our probabilities for severe weather. See the graphic below.

2- Fire weather conditions are still elevated so be extremely careful out there. Report any smoke or fire to 911 ASAP.

3-I’ll send out an update over our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app this afternoon if guidance changes.

4-Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Patchy drizzle before noon, then areas of drizzle and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 66. South wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight-Patchy drizzle and thunderstorms before midnight. Patchy fog before midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 44. South wind 15 to 18 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
