0335L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-10/18/21

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our emergency notification app. Download it, learn it, and apply what you can learn. It’s one step in the direction of PREPAREDNESS.

1-WEATHER-WISE- Sunny weather with strong winds will increase the fire danger today and tomorrow. A surface low developing over southeastern Colorado will move across the area dragging a cold front through early Wednesday morning. A 20% chance for a shower is possible. Other than this for the next few days, windy and mild. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

 Monday-Sunny, with a high near 73. South wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.

Monday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 53. South wind 10-20 with higher gusts.

2- In last Friday’s post, I spoke about Situational Awareness. This is another subject that most folks feel that it “WON’T happen to me.” That is furthest from the truth. The reason why it occurs more now is because of the distractions around you and the distraction in your hand. Yes, that phone, your connection to the world that may end up getting you killed. All it takes is you not paying attention, not knowing your surroundings, and the bad guys observing that fact, then bad things can happen.

I cannot stress this enough to PAY ATTENTION while shopping and loading or unloading your vehicle. I actually watch folks when I go to the store and many of them are looking around. Unfortunately, some don’t and those will be the folks that could become victims. If you are one of those folks that just have to be glued to the phone screen, change that habit!! It just could save your life!

STAY SAFE

MIKE
