0340L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-9/04/23

*Continued hot and very dry but the winds will become the main factor today. A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect out west but that doesn’t mean we are out of the woods. Controlled burning today is NOT a good idea since wind gusts could be in the upper 30s to low 40s this afternoon. Dew Point temps in the mid-50s and Relative Humidity in the mid-20s will enhance the fire danger here along with winds. High temps in the low 100’s won’t help either. No rain expected today

*If you see smoke or fire CALL 9-1-1. Remember that any controlled burning should NOT be conducted if winds are over 15 mph.

*Overall, everything’s going to be alright, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny, breezy, hot with highs around 102. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight-Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

STAY SAFE AND STAY HYDRATED.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
