0355L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/3/21

1- We are not “in” any thunderstorm outlook today. We should be partly sunny so we’ll continue to dry out. Winds should remain under 10 mph. One thing we can count on is it will be very humid so if you are working outdoors, pace yourselves and stay hydrated. Rain chances return on the fourth through the majority of next week. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Saturday-Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 80s. Southeast winds around 10 mph.

Saturday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the mid-60s. Southeast winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.

2- Many folks will be traveling this weekend so wherever you go, stay up with the latest forecasts and river forecasts. The state has received a lot of rainfall and rivers are full so use extreme caution around those areas and stay safe.

3- Many folks will be out illegally firing off fireworks this weekend and next week on county roads. Many of these roads are impassable right now and you might get stuck if you don’t use discretion. It’s best not to be out there in the first place. We don’t pull cars or trucks out of a stuck situation so a wrecker will need to be called and depending on where you are is whether a wrecker can even get to you. Sheriff Deputies will be out along with us. Be careful.

4- Here again is the state law on fireworks:

FIREWORKS- TITLE 68, Article 16-Fireworks, Section 1627- It shall be unlawful to explode or ignite fireworks within five hundred feet of any church, hospital, asylum, unharvested, flammable agricultural crop, public school or where fireworks are stored, sold, or offered for sale. No person shall ignite or discharge any permissible articles of fireworks within or throw the same from a motor vehicle; nor shall any person place or throw any ignited article of fireworks into or at such vehicle or at or near any group of people.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
