0340L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 6/8/25
ENHANCED RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER TODAY.
As stated, we are in an ENHANCED RISK for severe weather today. We have a front and a shortwave trough and where they come together later this morning into the afternoon will depend on what type storms we have. Right now at 0330L, all hazards will be possible as this mess moves through the area.
NOTICE- Until locations become apparent, don’t panic over what is now being shown. If storms form just to our northwest, supercell storms would be the issue with very large hail, winds possibly to 80 mph or so, and tornadoes. This said, the higher risk is south of us but this past weeks weather has shown we can still be in the target zone. We’ll wait and see where this mess sets up for sure.
I have a webinar with the NWS at 1130L this morning so we’ll have a better idea on timing and other prevalent information shortly after that. Advisories from me after that time will most likely be live on social media. The address on Facebook is @EGCEM yes, all caps.
Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Today-Mostly sunny, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe with damaging winds and large hail. Highs in the lower 90s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Tonight-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then a slight chance of showers after midnight. Some thunderstorms may be severe with damaging winds and large hail. Lows in the lower 60s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
