0420L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 03/10/24

YES, THIS IS LATE BECAUSE I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE CLOCK! 😊

*Warmer temps in the 60’s today, low 70’s on Monday, and mid to upper 70’s on Tuesday and Wednesday will usher in stronger winds and dryer air. What this means is the FIRE DANGER will increase so here are a few things to keep in mind; 1- we request that there be NO controlled burning since wind gusts will exceed 15 mph for the next several days. 2- If the winds die down enough and you decide to do a burn, CALL DISPATCH at 580-234-3473 and let them know, then make sure you get the edges of that burn put out completely as it will only take a spark from an ember to make a bad thing happen. Just use extreme caution, common sense, and be careful.

*Weather-wise, as stated above, we will warm up this week but we do expect a cold front around mid-week or so. Models are not in total agreement yet but should come together in the next forecast cycle or two. We’ll see what happens. Rain is in that forecast but as it appears now, we won’t see any of that rainfall for now.

*Finally, here is your county-wide forecast today through Tuesday along with wind gusts;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the mid-60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusting to 20.

Tonight-Clear. Lows in the upper 30s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

Monday-Sunny, breezy with highs around 70. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Monday Night-Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tuesday-Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the mid-70s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Tuesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s.

ENJOY THE DAY AND THE WARMTH!
