0250L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 01/11/24

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT TONIGHT.

DOWNLOAD our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You will need it this Winter and Spring for info from us and the NWS.

*Enjoy the day, because later this afternoon into tonight a cold front moves in and thus temps begin their fall over the next 5 days. Not too worried about the snow situation but it will be the wind/cold that we will need to be cautious about. On the snow situation, if we see snow later tonight into Friday, there could be some hazardous conditions especially on bridges and overpasses. Just SLOW DOWN and put your phones down too.

*Overall today, just enjoy the warmth since this will be the warmest of the next 5 to 7 days. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the mid-50s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain showers, snow showers and sleet in the evening, then a chance of snow showers after midnight. Snow and sleet accumulation around half an inch. Windy, cold with lows around 15. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent. Wind chill values as low as 3 below after midnight.

*Finally, don’t let the hype on tv get the better of you. Stay calm and take the time to get and be prepared. We’ll be ok, just a bit frosty and remember, this is ARCTIC AIR heading our way this weekend. We normally don’t experience this type of cold but we have had in the recent past. Just take precautions to protect your skin while outdoors and you should be ok.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
