THURSDAY WEATHER OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT – 01/08/2026

Good morning, Garfield County!

Thunderstorms continue to move through the area this morning. Nothing severe at the moment, but we remain in a marginal threat for small hail and winds up to 60 mph. Storms are moving rather quickly to the northeast at 40-50mph and look to clear out by midday. Southwest winds will pick up this afternoon at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. We will continue to monitor storms as they move through the area and will advise if needed.

Here is your detailed forecast from the NWS/Norman:

The Details

Today – Showers with a chance of thunderstorms this morning, then sunny this afternoon. Breezy with highs in the upper 60s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Tonight – Mostly clear. Much cooler with lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Safety Tips

  • Fire Weather: Even though we’re getting some much needed rain this morning, the combination of 30-40 mph gusts and dormant vegetation means fire can still spread quickly this afternoon. Please avoid any outdoor burning and be extra careful with anything that could cause a spark.
  • Remember to download our Garfield County EM App. The app is a great way to stay connected during severe weather!
