0335L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/21/19

1- A really nice day on tap so get outside and enjoy. Graphics attached are from Norman, Wichita, and Dodge City NWS offices. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Thursday- Sunny with a high near 65. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night-Mostly clear with a low around 39. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

2- Finalizing Plans and Backup Plans: The past 2 days I have tried to put forward information on Planning/Backup Planning. I have established that planning on the DAY OF THE STORM is a bad idea as emotions are involved. Plan and make Backup Plans on days like today, sunny and mild while you and other family members put out ideas on what would work for you. DECIDE today what the plan is along with the backup plan and then PRACTICE IT. This means PRETEND that it’s happening right now and talk through what you will do, where you will be, who will you contact , and how you will notify others in the event utilities are down. You can actually have fun doing this. When you have fun doing something, YOU REMEMBER IT.

3- STORMS will be increasing in intensity over the next few months as systems come through. Understand that planning and exercising those plans on my end is REQUIRED. Shouldn’t you require this too?

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

MIKE
