0330L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 5/4/23

** Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. NWS warnings and advisories automatically come through our app, IN DETAIL! It is a great tool to have and it costs YOU, nothing.

* We are in a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather early this morning into the late evening hours. I have been talking about how you should be preparing for severe weather and today MIGHT be that day. Parameters are coming together and we are in a higher probability area for large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. The tornado threat is most probable with discreet supercell activity this afternoon. We’ll have to wait and see where they form ahead of the dryline then adjust from there. No need to panic, just be prepared to put that plan into place. WE DO NOT HAVE PUBLIC SHELTERS IN ENID.

*There is a chance for strong thunderstorm activity this morning with the main threats of gusty winds and hail to around nickel size. Not expecting severe storms this morning but it’s not out of the question either. We’ll see what happens.

* The graphics attached this morning will change some during the day so don’t get fixated on where the lines are right now. Overall, we’ll be ok but stay weather aware today. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

* Today-Showers and thunderstorms early this morning, late morning, and this afternoon. Highs in the mid-70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds around 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

* I have a briefing with the NWS at 10 AM this morning and will update you all and our spotters after that briefing over the GARFIELD COUNTY EM APP.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
