0320L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-11/3/22

**It’s a good time to download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. SEVERE weather is forecast for our area late tonight through tomorrow. **

1- SLIGHT RISK for SEVERE weather later tonight through early Friday morning with all hazards possible, then a MARGINAL RISK on Friday. This would be a very long post if I typed or copied the discussions. All in a handbag right now is; 1- an upper trough-storm system is moving our way. 2-A cold front is also moving our way. 3- a dryline will set up sometime later tonight or early Friday morning. 4- The environment will be very unstable with high shear aloft. Main risks may be high winds, large hail, and a low possibility of tornadoes.

2- The above said, timing will be critical, so for us as of this writing, early Friday morning may be interesting depending on actual storm track and timing of all the features. One thing to keep in mind- IF you watch tv weather, the drama probably has already begun so take deep breaths and remain calm. Decision-making is best accomplished when you remain calm, just sayin.

3- After a weather briefing this morning, I will put the latest detail from the NWS/NORMAN over the GARFIELD COUNTY EM APP.

 4- OVERALL, WE’LL BE OK so stay weather aware and we’ll advise as we receive info from the NWS.

FINALLY, I will put spotters on stand-by during the overnight hours but keep in mind it’s difficult to see so we will be radar dependent. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday- Mostly cloudy and breezy. Highs in the lower 70s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Thursday Night- Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Breezy with lows in the upper 50s. South winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
