0300L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-11/2/22

NICE DAY TODAY BUT WINDY.

1- Severe weather is forecast for late Thursday night into Friday. We have a storm system moving in from the southwest, a cold front, a dryline will form up and initial storms could be in the form of what is called a QLCS SYSTEM-Quasi-Lineal Convective System. This is basically a squall line with mesovortices that can spawn tornadoes along the leading edge and very hard to see. These can spin up quickly and cause damage without warning so we’ll be up Thursday, all night as needed while this mess comes through.

2- NO NEED TO PANIC! There are several variables in this mess to consider and TIMING is the main one. This scenario could easily change but you need to understand that these type of storms can be dangerous especially since these will come through overnight on Thursday into Friday. Exact storm track hasn’t been pinned down yet so like I stated, this could all set up just a little different. Data will change a few times and the graphics that are attached will also change some so expect this from now through the forecast period.

3- OVERALL, we’ll be ok BUT pay attention to the weather when this mess gets started. Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM APP as NWS WARNINGS automatically come through along with info we send.

4- Here is your forecast from WEDNESDAY from the NWS/NORMAN;

Wednesday-Sunny. Highs in the mid-70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night-Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds around 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
