0300L- TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 01/09/24

REMINDER that you can get our posts on the GARFIELD COUNTY EM app under GCEM BLOG.

*WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 0600 THIS MORNING. Key factors here are strong winds with blowing snow and roads with slick spots. Everything is passable right now but SLOW DOWN. Snow will end this morning and winds will decrease this afternoon but until then, we could still see a few whiteout conditions even when the snow ends. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. At 0230L, we had received roughly 1.5 inches of snow.

*We’ll warm up into the 40s and 50s for Wednesday and Thursday until much colder air moves in with an additional chance for snow Thursday night into Friday. Wind chill temps could drop below 0 late Thursday night/early Friday morning. THIS SAID, by early Monday morning, we could see dangerous wind chill temps between -15 to -20 below. This isn’t set in stone but be prepared for several days of very cold temps.

*Overall, we’ll feel like an ice cube so bundle up and stay warm. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Partly sunny this morning, then clearing. Windy with highs in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts up to 50 mph, decreasing to 40 mph this afternoon.

Tonight- Clear, cold with lows in the lower 20s. West winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming south after midnight.
