0330L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/11/23

*We are in a GENERAL RISK for severe weather this morning and then the heater gets turned on. Rainfall this morning has been heavy as we have received ½ inch of rain in 15 minutes from 0300 through 0315. It continues to rain and the heaviest rainfall should be out of the area by 0600L. Don’t hold me to that timeframe exactly but it should be close.

*As stated above, after this mess moves out, the heat is turned on and we will see heat indices rise up into the low 100’s later today and for the next few days. It will feel very oppressive outdoors so if you do work outside, hydrate appropriately.

*At 0325L, we have now received ¾ of an inch of rain. Let me know your totals and hopefully you emptied your gauges from the last rain. Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, then sunny this afternoon. Highs in the mid-90s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values up to 107 this afternoon.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Humid with lows in the mid-70s. Southeast winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Heat index values up to 105 early in the evening.
