0355L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-12/9/2020

1- Another nice warm day with light winds is expected so if you have the opportunity, get outside, and enjoy it. We are looking at our high temps to be in the 70’s today. A change is coming on Thursday with a cold front from the north and a storm system from the southwest. We’ll have a 50/50 chance for some light rain later Thursday and on Friday.

2- Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds around 10 mph in the morning becoming light and variable.

Tonight- Clear. Lows in the lower 30s. Light and variable winds.

3- A learning experience- You have heard me state over the years about inversions in the atmosphere affecting radar. The radar pic attached is showing an inversion that we call anomalous propagation or AP. This is when the radar beam is refracted downward and illuminates ground features. What you see here in blue and other various colors are the wind farms all around the region. If you want to see the long version of the definition, google it.

HAVE A SUPER DAY!
