*WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON FOR MIXED PRECIPITATION.
At 0240L we have sleet and light snow falling. Roads are extremely slick and hazardous and as we have stated all week, if you don’t have to be out, stay at home. It’s probably safer that way. We’ll have freezing precip falling through at least early to mid-morning depending how fast this system can push through the area. A cold front will bring colder air into the area this afternoon along with dropping temps and low wind chill temps. I can’t stress this enough that if you have to be out, make sure you are dressed properly for this type of cold.
*Precip will increase at times as the heavier cells move through the area. We are still looking at MAYBE an inch or so of snow but remember that there is layer of ice below it. USE EXTREME CAUTION if you have to be out. Walking will be just as hazardous so be careful doing that too.
Overall, we’ll be ok so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today- Mostly cloudy. Snow, a chance of freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet this morning. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation. Ice accumulation around a trace. Cold. Near steady temperature in the mid-20s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
Tonight- Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Cold with lows around 10 above. North winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Wind chill values as low as 2 below.
