FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Remember yesterday? Mid 70’s, virtually no winds, bird’s chirping, dogs barking, a few folks screaming at each other, you could hear sounds from miles away!! NOT TODAY!! Our high will be “around” 48 with north winds gusting to 25 mph. This may even change as forecast discussions have changed around the region over the last several hours due to this shallow cold air. The birds will still chirp, the dogs will unfortunately continue to bark, and those folks arguing have been taken care of by the police. Keep in mind that one of these examples was fictional; then again it could have happened. Tuesday was nature’s way of messing with our minds. Just remember, it’s still winter. Believe it or not, temps will be around seasonal normals for this time of year and it will be cold tonight.

The FIRE DANGER is still out there so continue to be careful. Just because we cool off some doesn’t mean the danger goes completely away. Keep your eyes open especially in the rural areas.

We will test our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app notification system and the Nixle system today between 1130 and 1300 local time. Now is a good time to get our app downloaded and learn how it works. You just might need it this spring.

Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny, with a high near 48. North wind 13 to 18 mph becoming south in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Tonight-Mostly clear, with a low around 24. North northeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

STAY SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

MIKE
