0400L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK AND INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MGMT-1/1/20

1-HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

2- A WIND ADVISORY was issued at 0343 this morning for N-Central Oklahoma. You can read the details on our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. Please refrain from doing any burning. The fire danger is elevated so if you see smoke or fire, call 911 asap.

3- Some folks continue to call and state that we got a lot of rainfall so how can there be a fire danger? Simple: It rains. The water gets absorbed into the ground. The foliage ABOVE the ground is dead. Wind dries it out. Low humidity and dew points add to the drying effects. A spark occurs and thus, FIRE. It’s a science all in itself. PLEASE, No burning today and again, report any smoke or fire to 911 so a quick response can occur.

4- Weather-wise- here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

New Year’s Day- Sunny with a high near 58. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust in excess of 35 mph.

HAVE A SUPER DAY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
