0330L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 7/17/24

*There is a radar issue that is affecting the Vance WSR-88D SINCE YESTERDAY. The data is 15-30 minutes old and longer. This has occurred on several radars and is now occurring on the Frederick radar too. This is a national issue so for our area, use the Wichita radar KICT and the Norman radar KTLX if needed. The techs at the Radar Operations Center hope to get this resolved today. These things happen so be patient. At least we don’t have super severe weather happening.

*Speaking of weather, we have received a few rain drops overnight and this may help us stay a bit humid as we get into the afternoon hours but a reinforcing shot of cooler air will come in later today bringing dryer air with it. High temps will average in the mid to upper 80s over the next 5 to 7 days. Enjoy this while you can.

*Apparently the optimum cable that serves my area was cut and so may be sporadic around the area. I just hope these folks working on planting more cables out there can be a bit more careful. It’s too bad better planning on this mess couldn’t be done earlier to lessen this issue.

Oh well, overall, we’ll be ok and cooler, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, then mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tonight-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 60s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
