0250L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 7/31/24
*HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT AGAIN TODAY FROM NOON UNTIL 9 PM THIS EVENING. HEAT INDEX VALUES OF UP TO 110 ARE POSSIBLE.
* It’s going to be hot for the foreseeable future. It’s summer so just expect it. Believe it or not, there have been summers in the past where we were a lot hotter than we are today. Hang in there, winter is just around the corner, in a few months. There is an outside chance we could see some thunderstorm activity later today. It will most likely stay to our NW but we could see winds affect the area due to them if they occur. Just keep in mind that if it does rain, it will only add to the misery of the heat. We’ll see what happens.
*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Wednesday- Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Heat index values as high as 108. South wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Wednesday Night- 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 78. South wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
