0330L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/18/21

1- We finally received some much needed rainfall but a lot of it came over a short period of time. I received 1 inch in about 40 minutes. I would appreciate you sharing your totals with us too. Email them to me if possible as I don’t monitor social media all day. Send them to mike@gcem.org

2- There is another chance for rain this afternoon and overnight but it may be more likely to occur in southern Oklahoma. We’ll see what happens for sure later today. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Partly cloudy. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of thunderstorms 20 percent.

Tonight-Partly cloudy. A slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows around 70. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts. Chance of thunderstorms 20 percent.

Finally, the video I put on the EM page last night was a tank battery that was struck by lightning about 2 ENE from Hillsdale. Many folks commented that we were close and should back up. We were between ¼ and ½ mile away due to an explosion possibility. That is what zoom capability with a phone is for. No one got hurt but the flareups were pretty cool.

Thank you, Kremlin Fire, for responding with Hillsdale-Carrier to this location. Remember folks that we are trained volunteer firefighters that are here to help protect you and property. Thank you for supporting us.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!

MIKE
