0310L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-4/07/22

1- YOUR FORECAST FROM THE NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny and very windy. Highs in the lower 60s. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, increasing to 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph this afternoon.

Tonight-Mostly clear and very windy. Lows in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, diminishing to 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph after midnight.

2- RED FLAG WARNING in effect from 10 am this morning until 8 pm tonight. We are also in a WIND ADVISORY from 9 am until 7 pm this evening. A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect just to our west so if traveling, watch out for strong crosswinds.

3- Peak wind gusts will occur around mid-afternoon. There will be a lot of dirt in the air so if you have allergy issues, cover your face as best you can & good luck. Stay inside as much as possible. There is nothing worse than having breathing issues and all the dirt and smoke in the air as we did late yesterday. Peak wind gust yesterday, that was measured, was 51.75 mph.

4- No major fire issues yesterday so keep that up for today. NO CONTROLLED BURNING today. Just remember, the FIRE DANGER IS IN THE EXTREME CATEGORY. Thank you.
