0420L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/2/22

1- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 101. South southeast wind 7 to 13 mph.

Tonight-30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South southeast wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

2- A stalled front will keep us in that probability area for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms today, tonight, and tomorrow. If storms occur, lightning and winds will be the main threats. Overall, we’ll be ok.

3- All I will say about fireworks besides posting the law again is this. Those that start fires and run away need to keep in mind that your fingerprints usually remain on the spent product. That will be all I will say.

It’s illegal to fire them off of a county road, meaning fence to fence. Here is the STATE LAW;

FIREWORKS- TITLE 68, Article 16-Fireworks, Section 1627- It shall be unlawful to explode or ignite fireworks within five hundred feet of any church, hospital, asylum, unharvested, flammable agricultural crop, public school or where fireworks are stored, sold, or offered for sale. No person shall ignite or discharge any permissible articles of fireworks within or throw the same from a motor vehicle; nor shall any person place or throw any ignited article of fireworks into or at such vehicle or at or near any group of people.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
