0310L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 8/19/25

MARGINAL RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER THIS EVENING.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY, UNTIL 8PM THIS EVENING. HEAT INDEX VALUES COULD REACH 106 THIS AFTERNOON.

Thunderstorms will continue to be diurnally driven and very erratic in movement once again today. These popcorn storms will, AGAIN, be capable of high downburst winds when they collapse so keep this in mind. Winds from collapsing storms can produce very high winds depending on the height of the storm so just secure loose objects around your homes and businesses. Flooding can be a problem since these type storms don’t move very fast so use caution while driving especially through low lying areas.

A front will begin it’s push later this evening into the area and then become a focus point for additional storms. WINDS TO 70 AND PENNY SIZE HAIL ARE THE MINIMAL THREATS.

Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Tuesday- Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Humid with highs in the upper 90s. South winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values up to 106.

Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the evening. Humid with lows in the lower 70s. Northeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
