0255L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 10/10/25

With the upper ridge still building and moving into the area, we can expect temps to remain in the mid to upper 80s and along with warm temps, we’ll see winds 10-15 mph with higher gusts at times. Rain chances look bleak right now but there is a chance Monday into Tuesday.  As per cold temps, I am sure we’ll get cold sometime over the winter.

Right now, per the Drought Monitor, we are ABNORMALLY DRY. Personally, I feel we’re a bit drier than indicated but all this means going into the winter months is that the FIRE DANGER will be high within a few short weeks especially after we see our first freeze. Use extreme caution if doing any controlled burning and make sure you call dispatch at 580-234-3473 and let them know you plan to burn and when.

I will post winter weather preparedness tips starting next week. Until then, here’s a link to the NWS-  https://www.weather.gov/safety/cold-winter-hazards

Overall, we’ll be ok, so here is your countywide forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Friday- Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Friday Night- Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.
