0330L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MGMT-2/5/2020

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our app. You are NOT prepared without it.

1-WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY still in effect until 6pm this evening. We are still expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow. I don’t think we’ll make that but we’ll see. As stated in previous posts, the wind chill will be the most dangerous issue today. SLOW DOWN, TAKE YOUR TIME if road conditions do get slick. Make sure skin is covered due to the wind chill.

2- If you plan to travel south or southwest today, DON’T. WEST of HWY 81 and south of I-40, basically SW Oklahoma roads are extremely slick and hazardous. Road conditions can be found on the front page of our https://gcem.org website. Surrounding states D.O.T sites are there too.

3- Overall, we are going to be ok. If we see a lot of snow, enjoy it. If we don’t, stay warm and out of the wind. Winter is still not over with yet. By the way, light snow gained a little momentum around 0230 local time and continues at the time of this message.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Snow likely in the morning, then a slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.

Tonight-Partly cloudy. A chance of snow in the evening. Lows around 19. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 30 percent

HAVE A GOOD DAY, STAY WARM, AND ENJOY THE SNOWFALL, if it continues.

MIKE
