FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR OUR AREA UNTIL NOON TODAY

Its 0400 Local time and we have 1.2 inches of snow on the ground. I see it as very much needed moisture. It won’t amount to very much water per se but at least it’s wet. We had a heavy band of snow come through the area around midnight and it lasted for a few hours before stopping. We may get lucky and see some more snow this morning before it comes to an end. Additional accumulation could occur but it shouldn’t amount to very much.

Since we have had some snowfall, when you get out going to work this morning, TAKE YOUR TIME DRIVING. Explain to your teenagers to TAKE THEIR TIME and drive with extreme caution. Road crews may have had time to clear some roads but we are well below freezing and we may see some black ice out there. Bridges and overpasses will be slick so be extremely careful out there.

Weatherwise, it’s going to continue to be very cold today. We’ll see a gradual warmup starting through the weekend but until the snow completely melts, it will seem colder.

Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Friday-Occasional light snow with a slight chance of snow before 9am. High near 22. Wind chill values as low as zero. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Friday Night-Clear, with a low around 8. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable.

DRIVE CAREFULLY!! STAY SAFE AND WARM.
