0330L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/07/23

* SEVERE WEATHER WILL IMPACT THE AREA THIS MORNING. The radar pic posted earlier has changed a little but it appears the core of that mess out west may pass to our southwest. We may get a corner of the storms as they move east and southeast. The NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm watch which goes just to our southwest. See attached updated radar pic. I added the severe watch to the graphics. If storms do affect us this morning, strong winds, torrential rainfall, and possibly some hail will be our main threats. We’ll see how they track.

* Overall, we should be ok but it’s the wind threat we’ll watch carefully. As these storms pulse up and down, this is where the wind gusts will come from. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly cloudy with showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms this morning, then partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall possible this morning. Highs in the upper 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tonight- Thunderstorms likely. A chance of showers in the evening, then showers likely after midnight. Humid with lows in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming north 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 70 percent.
