FRIDAY UPDATE FROM ENID/GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/16/18

1- RED FLAG FIRE WARNING is in effect from 11 am this morning until 8 pm this evening.  No burning is advised. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

2- The new drought monitor is out- see the graph below

3- We are actually in a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather on SUNDAY. We’ll see what happens.

4-REPORT SMOKE AND FIRE TO 911. ALSO, the smoke from last night everyone smelled was from a fire west of El Reno. Smoke travels.

5- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny, with a high near 77. West southwest wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Tonight-Clear, with a low around 36. Northwest wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Finally, all Fire Commands in the county are prepared for what may happen today. Please be careful and again, report any smoke or fire immediately to 911.
