0400L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-5/14/21

1-Per the Storm Prediction Center, we are in a MARGINAL risk for severe weather late tonight into the overnight hours. If storms occur, hail and strong winds would be our main threats. I would say that the winds would be the bigger threat at this time. This may change today but we’ll keep an eye out and see what happens.

2- We will be moving into a moisture rich environment for the up and coming week with fairly decent chances for thunderstorms. Don’t panic but severe weather this next week is possible. Now would be a good time to get our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app and start learning how it functions and reading all of the preparedness information on it. I will send updates per NWS guidance as we trend into this moisture rich timeframe.

3- Flooding MIGHT become a factor also if we do see torrential rainfall during this weekend and next week. Again, we’ll see how this mess transpires. Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Friday-Partly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts. Chance of thunderstorms 20 percent.

Friday Night-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts. Chance of thunderstorms 50 percent.

NWS NORMAN GRAPHICS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AS OF 0400 THIS MORNING.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
